Nature reserves and national parks

Before making a flight, it is important to find out that there are no restrictions because of nature reserves or national parks where you intend to fly or land.

Nature reserves
There are 3,500 nature reserves in Sweden. Nature reserves often consist of contiguous, valuable nature, which can include both old-growth forest, waterways, open cultural landscapes and marshes.

For more information about nature reserves and where they are, see the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s website about nature reserves. Sweden’s county map (see under MAPS) also shows where nature reserves are located.

National parks
Sweden has 30 national parks spread from north to south. They are all unique areas that are particularly important to protect and preserve.

Within Sweden’s national parks, you may not land or fly low. Pay attention to your flight charts and stay informed.

For more information about nature reserves and where they are, see the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s website about national parks. Sweden’s county map (see under MAPS) also shows where the national parks are.
